Trim Your Abdomen with a Tummy Tuck

You’ve tried everything when it comes to trimming your tummy. You eat a healthy diet, practice portion control, stay hydrated, and exercise regularly.

You’ve tried every exercise there is to target your abdominal area. You are at an ideal body weight, and you’re satisfied with your overall appearance. Your stomach is your only trouble spot. This can especially hold true after you’ve had children. Your stomach is stretched out of proportion and may have trouble snapping back. When all else fails, consider a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, as a fix for your problem.

When You Need Cosmetic Surgery to Give You Results

If nothing else has worked to tighten your tummy and give you the trim, flatter belly that you want, a tummy tuck is a relatively easy procedure that can give you the best results. During a tummy tuck, you will get rid of the excess around your midsection. That means a reduction in skin and fat. During the procedure, it is common to address abdominal muscles that have been weakened as well, tightening them to give you a firmer stomach.

What to Expect during the Procedure

If you opt for a tummy tuck, general anesthesia will be used. A horizontal incision is the first step, generally down low on your body, above your pubic area. Next, weakened muscles are drawn together to tighten them. Excess fat and skin is removed. The skin from the upper abdomen will be drawn down more tightly to give you a smoother stomach.

Once the procedure is done, you will be given specific instructions for your recovery. In the first few days, you can expect a great deal of soreness and you will need to take it easy. After 10 days, you should be able to resume driving and work. You will still need more time before you are able to perform physical activity. You need to allow your body to heal.

What Makes You a Good Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
You are a good candidate for the procedure if you are in good health and do not have other conditions that could complicate matters, such as diabetes. Smoking can cause complications as well. A tummy tuck is recommended for you if you are at your ideal body weight. It is not a weight loss method and is not advised if your weight goes up and down often. If you are planning on having children, or additional children, it is suggested that you wait. Your stomach is going to go through changes during each pregnancy and could cancel out the effects of your surgery.

Maintaining Your Positive Results

Once you have had a successful tummy tuck, you are going to need to be diligent in your efforts to maintain your smooth, firm abdomen. Otherwise, you could find yourself right back where you began. Continue to have healthy eating habits and include regular exercise in your daily routine to make your tummy tuck work for you.
